December 2006
This year has
seen work on the Community Business Resource Centre Project
moving up a gear following the purchase of two plots at
Craignure in 2004 and appointment of a dedicated Project Officer
(funded by the LankellyChase Foundation) who will manage the
project.
The New
Community Business Resource Centre development is an exciting
community project to re-build the former Royal Mail Depot (home
now to the ‘Island Castaways’ charity shop) in order to
provide workspace and services for both community groups and
commercial businesses. Current plans include the provision of a
new, larger retail area for the ‘Island Castaways’, offices and
training room space and facilities for hire and a community
resource library.
To view
minutes of the Project Steering Group meetings please go to the
Documents page on the left hand column opposite. These can be
found in the Community Business Resource Centre folder or follow

Market
research work (supported by Development Trust Association
Scotland and Scottish Community Foundation) is currently taking
place to establish community and business needs for the centre
and as part of this work the Community Trust would like to hear
from any businesses, groups or individuals looking for space to
hire on a long or short term, daily or hourly basis. As well as
providing offices for the Community Trust and start-up space for
new businesses we have received suggestions that perhaps a
complimentary therapy room be provided with reflexology one day
per week, reiki another etc.
So please
tell us what you think by completing the short questionnaire
held in the documents section. Please download the document and
either e-mail it to
sscott@mict.co.uk or print it and return to the freepost
address provided on the questionnaire.
